Post From Jake

I (Andi) do most of the blog posts, and this one is technically posted by me and edited by me, but it is an email from Jake to his mom that sums up our weekend:

Things are very, very, very busy here. Not a moment of time idle unless it's sleeping. Lots of rain. I spent Saturday morning digging out the window well drain to try to expose the actual drain and then fill the base with pea gravel for drainage. Andi and I hauled mud and gravel onto the patio then the kids played with the mud (sifted it through colander) to give them something to distract them. All this to the sounds of a hungry 7 week old Addy. So that took 4 hours. Then we cleaned up the hauled dirt and mud and gravel and showered as all were covered in mud. Andi had Christin's baby shower to go to so she took Addy and dropped off Rambler with Uncle Matt and family who is in town for the week and I took Josie to swim class. She is doing well and can jump and splash and kick to the teacher underwater and gets the occasional mouthful of water but is better. Not quite swimming but getting there and is fearless as the other parents put it. Then dried off and went back to in-laws so Rambler could jump in the car and go back to the house for a late nap. Waking from the nap, Andi picked us up and then went off to the in-laws for a reuniting dinner with Great Grandma, Matt, Gillian, Rosalind, Mike, Jane, Andi, Rambler, Josie, Addy and I. BBQ and chaos until 8 pm. Then back to the house for bedtime. Kids in bed. Quick haircut and grocery shopping by yours truly. Lights out at 1 after chatting with a few friends over at our place hanging out.

Sunday up at 5:30 AM from kids scared of thunderstorm. Breakfast and shower; dressed by 7:30 AM. Andi to the store for more supplies I forgot the night before and kids and I picking up for brunch with Uncle Matt and company. Play session from 10:30 - 12:30pm which included fort building in bunk bed, throwing rubber balls at each other, jumping on our bed, reading books, spinning in pod chairs, and building with blocks. Nap 1:30 - 3:00 and up for another dinner at the in-laws with again all of the above mentioned cast! But wait....Jake discovers that the window well we all spent 4 hours on has caved in and no pea gravel is showing; just mud and all that time wasted. Fortunately, I can still see the drain and can scoop it clear periodically for now but there are patio bricks sinking above, Lake Fray is growing and serious drainage issue will need to be addressed in the next few months. More chaos at in-laws which included brawls over toys and running into walls (no serious injury). Back at 8:30 pm and kids down but wait ... Josie throws up in bed totaling pillow, sheets, taggie, moo and book casualties. TOO MUCH SPINNING we decided. Strip sheets, throw Josie in shower for hose down. She was sad so we let her sleep in my bed for one night. 9pm Kids out. Final pick up for cleaning lady coming Monday. Expenses for work and time card to fill out. Prepare food for work week. Give Addy a bath. 10:30, 15 minutes of Daily Show and both falling asleep. Up to bed. Addy wide awake until 11:30.
