Ghost

Jake spent almost a week in Michigan working claims in the Detroit area because there was a shortage of adjusters there. A huge storm hit the Chicago area and there was a lot of damage specifically to the North Shore. His company realized that it didn't make a lot of sense to have Jake working in Detroit, paying for a hotel room and have someone else fly here to pay for a hotel room so they sent him home. At first, we were really happy and excited about that. It turns out he's a ghost. A busy, stressed out ghost. This catastrophe work is just not working for us. The kids don't understand, it makes us all crazy.

Matt, Gillian and Rosalind came for a visit! Rosalind liked her baby cousin:

We went to the farmer's market and got to play on a fire engine. Each kid got a hat to take home. Rambler destroyed both his and Josie's within a few hours. He stayed away from Rosalind's, but she looks like she knows he's after it:
My adorable niece:
And my grandma moved here! She's just a few minutes away in the same assisted living home where my grandfather used to live. It's been fun watching the kids warm up to her, and her to them:
My dad had back surgery. A discectomy. Just one night in the hospital and he's up and walking around already. It'll be a slow recovery, which frustrates him, but it seems like he'll be pretty much back in commission in a few more weeks. Most frustrating to him was that in the 21 years since he's had a boat in the harbor, never have all 3 days of Labor Day weekend been nice -- until this year. He was very unhappy lying on the couch and walking around the block when he could have been sailing!
