Bikers

On Sunday morning, the city closed a major street so that people could bike it. Jake took Josie to meet one of Josie's friends and her father. When the ride was over, they went to some tennis courts nearby to keep riding around.

I packed up Addy and Rambler and their bikes and went to meet them. As I got closer, I saw a little girl riding around and thought to myself how we really need to do more riding so Josie can lose her training wheels too. Of course, that was Josie riding around without her training wheels! And, of course, Rambler wanted his off too and we protested, but finally Jake gave in. And the kid took off. Just like that.

They each fell, and once or twice we needed to come over and pick the bike off of them and help them up (with a quick check for blood and/or broken bones), but they continued to jump right back on and keep riding. It was totally amazing how they picked it up and kept going after a fall and loved every minute!

Unfortunately, Josie's friend didn't pick it up quite the same and there were some frustrating moments for her, and for Josie because she didn't want to stop riding to play with her. But in the end, everyone had a good time and the kids were so proud of themselves.
